(((((((((jeaniebeanz)))))))) you just wrapped up exactly what I was trying to say in a nutshell. I wonder sometimes if the reason I didn't even think to look for a board like this until just recently was a subliminal fear that the WTS would never let something like this exist. Lol. I know that sounds stupid, but it never occurred to me to google ex-Jehovah's Witnesses until two months ago.

Thanks!!!
by Low-Key Lysmith inat the risk of soundy mushy, i would just like to thank everyone for being a part of this board and making it what it is.
in the 14 years since i have been out of the b'org, i have pretty much had to deal with building myself back up by myself.
in the short time that i have been a part of jwd, i have realized that there was a lot of things that i had just repressed and locked away.

This board has given me an opportunity to confront many of those old "demons"- I hate that word-and I really feel better now than ever. It never ceases to amaze me how similar many of our experiences and feelings are. This board has been a keystone in my healthy recovery. Thank you everyone I wish you all the very best.

Irish Poteen - Anyone tried it?
by New Worldly Translation ini'm quite into spirits & liqueurs at the moment and always like to try a new tipple.
this irish poteen 90% stuff has piqued my interest but i was wondering if anyone had ever tried it and what was it like?
the strongest spirit i've had before was an austrian drink called stroh which wasn't that nice really and traded taste in favour of strength imo.

I've had poteen a couple of times. Can't say that I really enjoyed it much. It is basically a moonshiney version of really strong vodka. I do like Stroh rum though. (it tastes like butterscotch.) Makes really good spanish coffees.

I like the psychobilly alot, avishai. I was also stunned by your comment about Floater. I was under the impression that they are big here in Portland because they're from Portland. (They play @ my work all the time). I had no idea that they were big elsewhere too. Great band. Angles In The Flesh...Devils In The Bone is a awesome record. Have you heard Old Crow Medicine Show?

I too like the Mars Volta, Leo, but I wouldn't say there were any similarities between the two bands. The Mars Volta is a spin-off band from At The Drive-In. The other spin-off band called Sparta is also very good.

The new album by Queens Of The Stone Age is excellent if you like good slightly heavy rock. Anything by the Drive-By-Truckers is worth a listen. Ween has come out with some phenominal music with their last few records. TOOL, TOOL, and more TOOL.

social retard
by MerryMagdalene ini finally figured out why i'm so socially retarded...it just hit me.. here i was sitting and wondering why i have such a hard time meeting new people, making friends, thinking of relevent things to say, and so on.
it really is painful and scary for me.
i was told who i could talk to, who i couldn't talk to, what i could say, what i couldn't say.

When I was DF'd @ 18, l was a total mess. I had to move out of my parents house and get my own apartment (I was still in High School @ the time), get a job, (I had previously worked for my father), and make new friends( 98% of everyone that I knew and cared about were JW's). I had no idea how to interact with people properly. I was shy, had no self-esteem, and felt like a complete dork. I married the first girl I met @ 19 just to have something to cling to. I had no business being in a relationship because I was basically raised to be a cheavanistic prick. I would go to parties and tell people that I was a Navy SEAL and stupid shit like that because I thought it would make folks think I was a cool guy. It took a long time to get where I am today. Nowadays when I tell people that I grew up JW, they usually say they don't believe it. I take great pride in that. I pretty much had to re-raise myself and develop whole new thought processes and a new set of manners. I had to drop all my stupid prejudices and really learn to take life for what it is. My Grandma asked me not too long ago why I don't try to get re-instated and how I must be miserable without Jehober in my life. I replied that I am 100 times happier and healthier than I ever was in the Borg, and that is all the proof I need that the JW way of life is not for me. I look back and can't believe how immature and underdeveloped I was. I see the same thing in my sister who just turned twenty ( she behaves like she's about 12).
Anyway, sorry to ramble on and on. I just think it's really sad that generations of people are growing up without the skills they need to make it in the world. Pathetic.
